How to Start a Walking School Bus at Your School

Starting a walking school bus requires an enthusiastic parent or other adult from the school who wants to be involved in setting up the walking school bus. If you think you are that person you can contact your local Road Safety Coordinator who will help you.
Contact the Road Safety Coordinators responsible for your school's area:

The Road Safety Coordinator will help you with the following steps:

 | | Conducting a survey of children and adults to identify interest for a walking school bus.
| | | Identify the safest routes to school.
| | | Drawing up a roster for adult volunteers.
| | | Compiling information packs for the volunteers.
| | | Help your school apply for funding.
|

All of the steps needed for setting up a walking school bus are outlined in detail in the WSB Guidelines for the Auckland Region (PDF 1.2 MB).
